Now is the time to invest in a (new) DOVRE wood stove or fireplace.
Why? For many objective, scientific and economic reasons…
- Winter is at our doorstep and energy prices (electricity, gas and oil) have risen like never before.
- A wood stove or fireplace guarantees you heat in total autonomy; you only need wood logs. In the event of a power failure, they will continue to heat you, unlike all other solutions … and even light you.
- DOVRE exports 80% of its stoves worldwide, from Norway (our No.1 market) to Australia, through Japan and South Africa. This forces us to develop and constantly adapt our stoves so that they meet the strictest environmental standards in the world in terms of CO2, NOx and fine particles emissions. Our R&D engineers, at the forefront of combustion technology, are constantly looking for ways to improve in these areas.
- All energy sources pollute -directly or indirectly- it is inevitable, but a DOVRE stove guarantees a minimum level of pollution, for the sake of our planet and future generations.
How do we do this? By ensuring, through the appropriate internal architecture of our stoves, multiple combustions (a mixture of fresh air coming from outside meets and ignites several times the combustion gases not entirely burned before being released into the atmosphere). This gives our products an excellent efficiency: high heat, extremely low wood consumption, almost complete combustion, and therefore optimal exploitation of its calorific value. - Wood is a 100% renewable source of energy, unlike fossil fuels such as oil, coal or gas.
Moreover, the consumption cycle of wood is much more local than other energies, favoring short circuits, local economy as well as a very reduced ecological footprint linked to transport. - Wood is the only fuel with a negative CO2 emission balance. Trees capture CO2 throughout their life, largely compensating for what they produce during the combustion of a tiny part of them, resulting from the necessary pruning and maintenance work of our forests. A perfect illustration of nature’s cycle.
- Our stoves and fireplaces, made of high quality cast iron in our foundry in Belgium, are largely recycled, by us or other metallurgists.
And if you have already had a stove for a long time, given the evolution of standards and technologies, it might be a good idea to renew it, for the sustainability of our Earth or simply for your pleasure…

ENERGY FROM WOOD: THE NATURAL CHOICE!
Do you want to limit the use of fossil energy sources (fuel oil, gas, coal) because they are polluting and expensive?
Then choose wood!
Wood burning is extremely necessary for the feasibility of an European alternative energy policy! Wood heating is economical, environmentally friendly, renewable and gives a cozy warmth. Moreover, the price of this type of heating remains very stable while contributing to the development of the local economy.
Those who heat with wood pay less for their energy. Depending on the fuel type (logs, pressed logs, wood chips or pellets), wood heating costs between 2.5 and 5.5 cents per kWh.
If used correctly, wood heating makes it possible to drastically reduce our ecological impact. After all, the CO2 that was absorbed by the tree before it was felled compensates for the CO2 emissions during combustion. In addition, a new plant is immediately planted to replace the cut down tree. In that case, we are talking about a neutral carbon balance. Wood heating is thus an integral part of a natural cycle that greatly reduces our impact on global warming.
Who has never dreamed of a cosy evening by the fireplace? The play of colours of the flames, the crackling of the logs, the pleasant fragrance is simply magical. That fantastic feeling of intense wellbeing and tranquillity can only be obtained with wood. What’s more delightful than the heat radiation that makes your cheeks blush and gives you a good mood?

RECYCLING
At Dovre we care about the environment, which is why we invest every day in researching maximum combustion efficiency. Thus, making us world leaders in this sort of technology.
We work with cast iron, which is an extremely durable material and has a very long-life span.
We form all our parts by using sorted metal waste. Thus, making our cast iron 100% recyclable, maintaining its full quality during this process. We hereby maintain a zero-waste policy during our production process.
In addition to our expertise in low-emission combustion, we also ensure easy disassembly and separation of the various components. We have already considered this topic at the development of our products. Thus, finding an optimal way to recycling and end-of-life processing, for all the varied materials we use.
When disassembling our products, we highly recommend that you consider the following safety procedures: wear covering clothing, impermeable gloves, a dust mask, and eye protection.

ECOLABEL
As from January 2018 all manufacturers will be obligated to provide an ecolabel and technical specifications with each appliance. This ecolabel will display the energy efficiency. You can find all the technical specifications per appliance on our website or at the end of our catalogue. On the label itself you’ll find a score that indicates the efficiency. A+ means that the energy efficience is between 107 and 130 for example.

5 + 5 = 10 YEAR WARRANTY
Dovre strives to deliver top quality. By combining workmanship, the use of high quality materials and parts and rigorous quality control, Dovre can offer a 5 year guarantee on the cast iron*. The guarantee for cast iron is extended by another 5 years if you submit the online guarantee form on our website within three months after purchase. (*) except for components which come in direct contact with the flames, such as glass, grates, inner panels, etc.
SOLID FUELS
The solid fuels you can choose from are wood, coal and lignite briquettes.
Wood and coal burn in totally different ways.

COAL
Relies on heat from embers. When buying coal you need to check the ash content.
This must not be higher than 5%.

WOOD
Burns away completely and produces more combustion heat, which provides a more pleasing effect. Good firewood must be completely dry. The moisture level must not be higher than 15%, or the wood will burn at too low a temperature, causing a significant drop in efficiency and possibly releasing noxious gases into the environment. Also, if the temperature is too low, soot can form in the flue.

BRIQUETTES
Are simple to use, burn slowly and keep the stove hot for a long time.
Dovre’s Airwash system uses a spoiler to draw the air flow for secondary combustion across the glass. This keeps unburned fumes and condensation away from the glass, keeping the glass clean longer.
FOR HIGH EFFICIENCY AND A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT
The latest generation of Dovre stoves has a unique dual combustion system. Secondary air is taken into the stove from the rear. This is first heated and then piped into the combustion chamber. This causes secondary combustion which consumes the remaining combustible flue gas. Result: improved heat production and cleaner and environmentally friendly combustion.
The higher the efficiency, the more heat you get and the less fuel you need. The efficiency of Dovre woodburning stoves and fireplaces is optimised using secondary combustion, where a separate air inlet allows combustion gas to burn. This is good for efficiency, safety and the environment. It also causes a more complete combustion resulting in much less ash being left behind.
Choose your appliance to suit the room you want to heat. You will get the best results if your appliance constantly burns at its nominal power. If your appliance is too large, it will often operate at a combustion level that is too low. The result will be incomplete combustion, which is not good for your chimney (increased risk of chimney fire because of soot deposits), nor for the environment (unburned flue gases in the atmosphere).
Did you know that your stove or fireplace takes air straight from outside? That means that no oxygen or heated air is lost from the room. The best choice for houses with a ventilation system or well insulated low energy homes.
AIR FROM OUTSIDE OR FROM ANOTHER ROOM?
You can choose where the fresh air is taken from: straight from outside, but also from an adjacent room, cellar or storage space.
CLEAN, SAFE COMBUSTION
This outside air supply means that the air needed is constantly taken in from outside and the delicate balance of aeration and ventilation is undisturbed. After being heated, the outside air is going straight into the combustion chamber, resulting in clean, safe combustion.
HEALTHY INSIDE AIR AND WONDERFUL HEAT!
An outside air supply means that clean and healthy internal air is guaranteed while you enjoy the blissful warmth!
DOVRE PRODUCTS WITH OUTSIDE AIR SUPPLY
Most of our range is already supplied with a connection to feed air from outside (diameter 100 mm). These products are listed at the back of our catalogue under “technical specifications”.
